SHILLONG: The Anti Corruption and Human Development Organisation (ACHDO) has urged the Deputy Commissioner, WGH, Ram Singh, to look into the grievances faced by the beneficiaries of the National Social Assistance Programme.
The organisation informed the beneficiaries have not been receiving regular pension. Some have not received their pension for few years while some only received the first few installments after which it completely stopped, it added.
“We must not lose sight of the fact that the persons eligible for pensions/assistance under this scheme belong to the most vulnerable of society. Therefore, it becomes the moral duty of the implementing agency to ensure least burden on them,” the ACHDO said in a letter to the DC.
The organisation further said that eligible beneficiaries were in queue to register under the said programme but despite submitting their documents to Gram Sevak multiple times, their names were not reflected in the list.
The ACHDO further urged the DC to take cognisance of the matter and adopt necessary measures to ensure regular monthly disbursement of proceeds for the beneficiaries.
