NESAC official attends meeting in Nagaland

Kohima: A team of high officials from North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC) Government of India, Department of Space led by its Director Dr S Sudhakar and Scientist Dr K K Sharma held a high level meeting with Nagaland Government officials at the Secretariat Conference Hall on Saturday.

According to official sources here on Sunday, the scientists of the NESAC held a meeting under the Chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner Nagaland Alemtemshi Jamir with the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Soil and Water Conservation, Land Resources, Roads and Bridges, PHE, Forest, Geology and Mining, Fishery, Irrigation and Flood Control, Science and Technology and Information Technology.

In the meeting, Dr Sudhakar and Dr Sharma made a Power Point Presentation on the objectives and applicability of Geospatial Technology and its utility in generating Geospatial data for the overall development of the state of Nagaland.

Mr Alemtemshi Jamir appealed to the entire line of Departments to keep a constant close coordination with NESAC to build a strong Geospatial database for the whole state which could be used for various research, planning and development activities concerning the state.

The team from NESAC also visited the Nagaland Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing Centre wherein coordinator of the centre, where Mhathung Kithan highlighted its activities and presented the status of the ongoing projects.

The team from NESAC also appraised the ongoing projects of the Centre that are coordinating with Indian Space Research Organization, National Remote Sensing Centre and NESAC, sources said. (UNI)
