Rymbui inaugurates school building in South West Khasi Hills

Demand for ad-hoc aid for Hynriew Shnong HSS

MAWKYRWAT: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui inaugurated the new school building of Hynriew Shnong Higher Secondary School, Shngimawlein, South West Khasi Hills District on Tuesday, which was constructed under Supporting Human Capital Development (SHCD) in Meghalaya and financed by Asian Development Bank in the presence of Mawkyrwat MLA and Chairman MIDC, Renikton L Tongkhar, former Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Rowell Lyngdoh and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Rymbui lauded the Hynriew Shnong (six villages) and also assured that whenever the government has funds, he will remember the school.
He urged upon the students and managing committee to strive for the betterment of the school.
Meanwhile, Tongkhar expressed his desire to improve the education of the district and informed that the biggest share from the MLA scheme was for the construction of the college at Mawsaw village in Shiliang Um Rilang area. He also called upon the students to value education by working hard as without their contribution to the school, the new building will be meaningless.
Diningroy Marwein, principal of the Hynriew Shnong Higher Secondary School submitted a memorandum to the education minister requesting the government to provide Ad-hoc Grant-in-Aid to the school and also for financial assistance for construction of retaining wall and fencing of the school.
Marwein also informed that the managing committee has upgraded the 10+2 (Arts) in 2007 for the interest of the students and parents of the area and especially to prevent their dropout after passing out Class-X. He said that the regular permission was also granted in 2010 by the Education Department, yet till date the committee has to pay the salary for six assistant lecturers by raising fund through collection of donations from the public and collection of tuition fees from the students.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Rowell Lyngdoh called upon the people to take care of the new school building and to keep their environment clean.
