Shillong: Acting on an allegation from a student, the FKJGP has questioned the pattern followed by Seven Set School in admissions to the 10 plus 2 courses for the academic year 2012-2014.

On receiving a complaint from the student, who was allegedly denied admission for being overaged, a FKJGP team visited the School on Thursday and met the Principal seeking an explanation into the matter.

Education secretary, FKJGP AB Kharmalki alleged that the School had denied admission to a student on the pretext the latter was “too old to get admission in class XI despite securing 53 per cent in the SSLC exams”.

The Union also apprised the Director of MBOSE of the matter.

Stating that the act of the school management is a discouragement to many students, the FKJGP education secretary said “If this is being practised in schools around the city then all the students who have surpassed the age of 20 and above would be left unattended and would have no choice but to give up their studies.”

Kharmalki added that if the school should have informed of the age criteria in the prospectus so that a student a so-called over-aged student would not waste his/her time and energy applying for a seat in the School.
