SHILLONG: Shillong is known for music and in its bid to further excel the talent of local youths in the filed of music and entertainment, the world famous Trinity has launched a new Rock and Pop programme in the city
The cause got a major boost when David Bobby, Head of Business Development, Trinity College was in Shillong recently to launch the programme.
Shillong is one of only ten cities across the country where David Bobby is conducting a series of workshops to promote the syllabus for the Rock and Pop exam. Under the programme, the examination syllabi spans a whole range of styles from the classics of rock and pop to recent releases. Songs in the syllabus have been selected to demonstrate specific technical skills, styles and allow for improvisational flexibility, adding the syllabus includes the works and styles of Pink Floyd, Ramones, Lead Belly, Radiohead, Alice In Chains, REM, David Bowie, Bee Gees, Elton John, Rihanna, Beyonce and Justin Timberlake to name some.
‘This is such a good opportunity for younger musicians, and I would advise them in taking advantage of this. We didn’t have such things in our time, they are so fortunate’ said Timmy Kharhujon of Snow White who performed at the workshop.
The syllabus also allows students to choose from outside the song list suggested by Trinity in its syllabus book or on the website, provided the song selected meets the prescribed parameters set out by Trinity, has a good quality of recording, and copyright permission has been granted.
