NEWDELHI: Rajya Sabha MP from Meghalaya Wansuk Syiem on Friday sought Centre’s intervention for the tribal staff of the Customs, Central Excise & Service Tax Office in Shillong who, she said, are having many grievances.
In a special mention in the Upper House, Wansuk said many such employees, mostly women, have been transferred out to different states of the North East. This has put them in a disadvantageous position since many of them are there on the final stage of their services or on the verge of retirement, she said.
“Many staff at lower level are also facing harassment at the workplace,” Wansuk said.
