Schools get support from IndianOil

Shillong: Ten lower primary schools of the aspirational Ri-Bhoi District, as selected by the Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi, RM Kurbah have become the beneficiaries of the CSR initiatives of IndianOil on Friday.
An MoU was signed and exchanged between IndianOil and Kurbah at Umsamlem Government LPS for providing additional classroom in these schools.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief General Manager, IndianOil and head of marketing division in 7 Northeastern states Uttiya Bhattacharyya.
DP Kharsati i/c Deputy Commissioner Ri-Bhoi district, headman Umsamlem Village, other officials of IndianOil, principal of Umsamlem LPS, teachers and around 70 school children besides locals were also present in the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharyya emphasised on the importance of imparting quality education to the children who are the future of the nation.
“For this, proper facility in form of classrooms is important,” he said.
He acknowledged the role of teachers who have, over the years, shaped the future of this country through their tireless efforts in imparting knowledge at various levels of education.
He implored the students to study with passion, have love and respect for their parents and teachers, and be good human beings in the future.
“Hardwork, patience and dedication now will ensure a bright future,” he said.
He further stated that IndianOil is committed to nation-building, and “this today is a small step towards that direction.”
“IndianOil will continue to identify areas of CSR activities in consultation with  Government of Meghalaya and undertake more such activities in future,” Bhattacharyya said.
