IOCL distributes saplings to students

SHILLONG: As part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ initiative by the Centre, Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) organised distribution of saplings to the students at Scouts and Guides HQ, Shillong.
Chief General Manager of Indian Oil AOD and Head of North East Marketing of Indian Oil, Uttiya Bhattacharyya distributed saplings to the children and said that for a clean or Swachh environment more trees are to be planted. The programme organised by Indian Oil is in line with the corporations policy towards enhancing its green cover and mitigation of green house gas emission.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhattacharyya said that last year, the organisation took the initiative of planting ) over 2,10,000 saplings across the country to enhance the green cover. The programme at the school is indicative to our commitment of maintaining clean environment to the future generation. He urged all the children and other dignitaries to spread the message of making tree plantation a festivity. Indian Oil Corporation Limited assured to assist in tree plantation in Meghalaya.
He also mentioned that not only tree plantation and distribution of saplings but Indian Oil has suggested for a dedicated area in the city to convert it into a dense forest that would work as ‘the lungs of the city’.
