SHILLONG: Chairman of KHADC PN Syiem has criticised Bindo Lanong for stating that Governor Tathagata Roy has hidden agenda. Syiem pointed out that if there was any hidden agenda, Lanong himself would not have been accommodated as a nominated member in KHADC by the governor.
According to the council rules, out of 30 members, 29 will be elected based on adult franchise and the remaining member will be nominated by the governor.
Syiem wanted to know whether any partiality was shown by the governor in appointing Lanong as the nominated member.
He also pointed out another section in the council rule which states that the nominated member shall hold office at the pleasure of the governor.
In this context, the chairman of the council said that Lanong should be thankful to Roy for nominating him as member instead of criticising him.
Syiem reiterated that relevant rules were followed while conducting the no-confidence motion and said that there was no deviation of procedure as claimed by the government.
