Govt push for stronger skill ecosystem in state

SHILLONG: Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana (DDU-GKY), Meghalaya organised the first-ever ‘CxO meet’ at the State Convention Centre here on Thursday.
The DDU-GKY, in a statement issued here, informed that the CxO meet is an initiative to bring together the company and government to strengthen the skill ecosystem across various sectors in the state by nurturing cordial relation between the key stakeholders.
The objectives of the CxO Meet is to discuss on the importance of collaboration and finding potential solutions to bridge the skill gap in the state and to ensure that the trainees of DDU-GKY get the highest possible salary and best possible job role.
Wailadmiki Shylla, MLA & Chairman, MCCL, was the chief guest on the occasion. In his inaugural address, he called upon the rural youths to take full advantage of the government scheme, which will provide training and placement, brought to their doors through the DDU-GKY.
IR Sangma, Secretary, C&RD, stressed upon the need to set up a migration support centre for the youth who are being mostly placed outside the state.
“The need for a migration support centre is felt keeping in view the social and emotional needs of the candidates going to other parts of the country for placement. This will not only reassure the candidates but also have a higher retention ratio,” she said.
Meanwhile, five best performing students and their family members were felicitated during the programme along with the best performing PIA, M/S Endeavors Careers Pvt. Ltd.
In the second session, a panel discussion, which was attended by corporates and the stake holders, was held wherein different speakers highlighted the various aspects of the programme.
