SHILLONG: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) CEM Latiplang Kharkongor said that the withdrawal of support by Congress MDC Batskhem Ryntathiang is not a threat to the United Democratic Front (UDF).
He confidently said that the numbers in the UDF are 16 while claiming that there are others who will join the UDF. “If they (the UDA) want to topped the UDF then they should bring a no-confidence motion on the floor of the House”, he said adding that the case of the Executive Members (EMs) is still with the High Court.
He added that he is still commanding a majority and challenged the UDA MDCs, “If they want to change, come to the floor of the House”.
Kharkongor said that if the UDA MDCs want a special session, then there should be signatures of 20 MDCs.
The chairman of KHADC, P N Syiem said that as per district council rule, the majority should be proved in the House and not outside the House.
