Minister’s wife rescues primate

Itanagar: A Slow Loris, an endangered primate, has been rescued by the wife of Arunachal Pradesh Education Minister Bosiram Siram, official sources said on Saturday.

Mary Siram rescued the animal from her Mirbuk village residential compound at Pasighat in East Siang district last night, the sources said. “We were bit astonished seeing this little primate clinging near a small decorative tree in our compound”, the minister’s wife said adding, “It was making a lot of noise when taken into a cage for refuge”.

On being informed, a team of wildlife officials led by DFO (Wildlife) Tashi Mize rushed to the spot, the sources said.

“The primate is in good health. It will be released shortly in D Ering Wildlife Sanctuary”, Mize said.

A Slow Loris was rescued earlier from Pasighat and released in the D Ering Wildlife Sanctuary on World Environment Day. PTI
