SHILLONG: The Federation of Shillong Hotels (FoSH) has vehemently opposed the Citizenship (Amendment) Act saying it condemns the recent acts of violence in the state, the fallout of which has hugely impacted the nascent tourism industry.
“We have to understand the importance of this sector which has begun to provide livelihood to all sections of the urban as well as the rural population and any disturbance to this sector could have long lasting negative implications and prove fatal,” the federation said.
FoSH feels that all efforts are urgently required to instil faith and security among citizens. The tourism sector being the bread and butter for all sections of the citizens needs to be preserved and the right message is required to be sent to revive tourism, the FoSH stated.
FoSH has requested all sections of the society in maintaining peace and brotherhood and to find a long and lasting solution that puts Meghalaya on high rating in the world of tourism.
