SHILLONG: The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO) said that they would file a petition in the Supreme Court next week against the CAA after waiting confirmation from the lawyer.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, chairman of CoMSO Robert Kharjahrin said, “We will file a petition next week but will wait for confirmation from the lawyer and if there is no change, then we will file the case next week”.

Expressing their opposition to the CAA tooth and nail, he said that the CoMSO would not accept the CAA at any cost even if Inner Line Permit (ILP) is implemented and asserted that the union government should repeal the CAA immediately.

Stating that implementation of ILP has been a long pending demand in the state of Meghalaya, he said, “With or without ILP, we will continue to oppose CAA until it is declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of India”.

Referring to the ILP resolution passed by the State Assembly last year, Kharjahrin condemned the apathy of the union government for delaying talks with the state government.
