NONGSTOIN: The members of Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) Lai Lyngdoh Area Unit, have expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of an RCC bridge of PWD in Kynroh connecting Nongstoin and many villages in Lai Lyngdoh area especially Mawkyrwat of South West Khasi Hills.
“We have met the concerned department officials several times with the request to repair the bridge but in vain. The only bridge connecting the people from far flung areas are damaged putting the life of the people at risk but the department has failed to repair,” Fulbackstar Shangrit, President of HYC said.
The bridge has many holes and damaged iron rods, metals to hold the strength of the bridge is also getting rusty.
Shangrit told that the Council after various complaints from the villagers and with their own inspection they once again went to PWD to meet the Executive Engineer but he was out of station.
Concerning over the issue, they called him through mobile phone where he has assured to look into the matter as early as possible.
The Council also has assured the people of the area to follow up the matter until the bridge will be repaired by the concern department.
