Tripura observes Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniv with fanfare

Ambassa: Tripura marked the 157th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda with a difference as several organisations came together to distribute winter wear among the underprivileged and also organised a voluntary blood donation camp in the bordering subdivision of Kamalpur in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai.
The urban body of Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat arranged for winter wear distribution at the base of the Vivekananda statue.
The programme opened with floral tributed to Swami Vivekananda followed by a discussion on the life and works of the Saint.
Speakers at the discussion reiterated that the life and works of Vivekananda is a vast ocean blended with extreme sympathy for fellow beings, strong dedication towards motherland and surging boldness of protesting against anything unjust.
Throughout his life and in his works he has emphasised on serving the deprived and backward lots with an intense love for his country.
At another programme, a local organisation arranged a mega blood donation camp which was inaugurated by the Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Manoj Kanti Deb.
Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat chairperson Prashanta Sinha, Voluntary Blood Donors Association secretary Shyamal Paul and others remained present.
In his inaugural speech Deb remarked, “When the youth will engage themselves with activities for the betterment of society then the addiction towards drugs is sure to get down to zero”. (UNI)
