Ambassa: With only months left before their termination as per the order of the Supreme Court, as many as 10,323 teachers in Tripura have reposed their faith on the state government.
The teachers were appointed by the then Left government under Manik Sarkar keeping many loopholes in the recruitment policy and process.
As a result, their appointment was challenged by those deprived of the jobs and after a long legal tug of war, the apex court gave its verdict in 2018 that their jobs would conclude on March 31, 2020 and they would be terminated.
At a convention held at Halhali in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai, the organisation of teachers expressed their solidarity with the state government.
Discussing the objectives of the convention, the convenor, Ritabala Debbarma remarked, “As March 31 is drawing nearer, a section is using the social media platforms to demoralise us and to malign the state government. It is a nasty political vendetta to destabilise the government. We are sure enough that the Chief Minister and the Education Minister along with the whole cabinet are working to find out a remedy as our true guardians. They have assured that our crisis will be resolved and our jobs and future would be ensured. We have firm belief in their words. And today’s convention is to share and spread this belief with everyone of us”.
The BJP had used the teachers’ issue prior to the Assembly election in 2018 to snatch power in Tripura.
Experts are of the opinion that the convention organised by the 10,323 teachers would push the state government to come up with actions to secure their future. (UNI)
