Meeting to hear dealers’ grievances

SHILLONG: A delegation of Fair Price Shop Dealer’s Association, Shillong, led by its president Anwar Khan met Chairman of Meghalaya State Food Commission, BK Dev Varma on Monday and submitted a representation to him.
In a statement issued here, Khan said the meeting was very fruitful and Varma has given a patient hearing on the grievances highlighted by the association with the assurance that he will look into the matter raised by the association.
The association stated the dealers have been receiving a profit margin of about Rs 120 per quintal for four years and they termed it as injustice.
They added they have to spend all the expenses for transportation, loading and unloading, and handling.
The association also said many consumers still have not received the ration card and bound to buy ration from open market for high rates.
