SHILLONG: Part-time lecturers of Tura Government College morning shift have decided to go on an indefinite cease work from Tuesday protesting against non-payment of their salaries for the past one-and-half year.
The lecturers had submitted a representation to the Principal of the college last week with the request to release their salaries at the earliest and had threatened to go on indefinite cease work if their demand was not fulfilled.
“We have to work harder compared to the lecturers in the day shift since there are more students in the morning shift. It is really sad that the Government is not recognizing the services we are rendering despite being paid a meagre salary,” the lecturers said.
“We had in the past submitted several reminders to the State Government to increase our salaries and make arrangements for timely disbursement of the salaries. The Government is yet to respond to our demand,” the lecturers alleged.
