Indian boxers win 4 silver medals

Sombor: Four Indian pugilist claimed four silver medals at the 9th Nations Cup International Boxing Championships in Serbia. M. Meena Kumari (54kg), Monika (48kg), Ritu Grewal (51kg) and Bhagyabati Kachari (75kg) were the four pugilists who clinched the silver medal after losing their respective final matches. Meena, who had last year won gold at the Boxing World Cup in Germany, lost to Italy’s Giordana Sorrentino 1-4 while Monika lost to Russia’s Iuliia Chumgalakova in a split verdict. Ritu was beaten 0-4 by China’s Cai Yan while Bhagyabati lost 1-4 to Khadija Mardi of Morocco. (IANS)
