Ri Bhoi performance saddens Kant

SHILLONG: The Chief Executive Officer (CEO), NITI Aayog, Amitabh Kant, on Tuesday, expressed discontentment on the overall performance of Ri Bhoi district and impressed upon the district officers to put in more efforts and hard work for ensuring 100 per cent achievement of targets under all performance indicator for each sector defined under the programme, viz. health & nutrition, education, basic infrastructure, financial inclusion, skill development, agriculture and water resources.
He also informed that out of 14 Aspirational Districts of the North East, Ri Bhoi holds the 13th position, and exhorted the officers to work with dedication.
Kant also assured full support from the Centre for implementation of various activities for the district under Aspirational District.
He also said that the district also must attain the support of the state government so that all the requirements will be fulfilled to promote every sector for the benefit of the people.
The NITI Ayog CEO also visited Ri Bhoi District to take stock of the implementation of various developmental schemes and projects made in Ri Bhoi under Central Government Aspirational District Programme.
A meeting was also held at circuit house conference hall, Nongpoh, which was attended by District Prabhari Officer for Aspirational District, Ri Bhoi, CVD Diengdoh; Deputy Commissioner, Ri Bhoi, RM Kurbah; Additional Deputy Commissioners of the district DP Kharsati, B Kharshandi, D Phawa; and district officers from different line departments. During the meeting, Kurbah presented a detailed overview of the achievements made in various sectors in the district such as health sector, nutrition, education, agriculture, etc.
