3rd Khelo India Youth Games end
GUWAHATI: The curtain came down on of 3rd Khelo India Youth Games here on Wednesday evening. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal while speaking on the valedictory ceremony said that the games had generated an atmosphere on abundance of talents in the larger landscape of the sports in the country.
Sonowal speaking at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Sarusajai Sports Complex said that the youths who participated in the games proved that through devotion, dedication and diligence one can reach the zenith of success. From now onwards everybody’s target should be Olympic.
Sonowal said that through Khelo India Youth Games, the participants had highlighted the the identity of Guwahati as a prominent sports centre in the country and put India on a higher pedestal in the world of sports.
He also thanked the participants including players, support staff and technical staff for making 3rd Khelo India Youth Games a grand success. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who wants to take the country forward through Fit India Movement, he urged upon the young generation to devote themselves in Fit India Movement.
Chief Minister Sonowal also thanked the people of Assam for rendering all possible help to provide hospitality to the participants of 3rd Khelo India Youth Games and making the event a huge success.
He at the same time thanked sports organisers, Olympic association, different sports bodies, journalists for the help and support. He also reiterated that sports is a tool with which the bond of friendship and camaraderie can be strengthened.
Union Minister of State (i/c) Youth Affairs and Sports Kiren Rijiju thanked Government of Assam, people of the state for making 3rd Khelo India Youth Games a success. He said that the games played in an environment of sportsmanship spirit will be a force multiplier for the growth of sports across the country.
On this occasion Maharashtra was given the Champion’s Trophy for securing the top position in the medal tally. Haryana was given the first runner up, while Delhi was adjudged the second runner up. Chief Minister Sonowal also released a souvenir synchronising with the occasion.
