The Raid Laban Sports, Social and Cultural Organisation will confer the 8th Literary Award 2011 on those students who have excelled in SSLC, HSSLC, ICSE, CBSE and university examinations during the academic year 2011 with first division and above. All the interested students are requested to obtain their forms from the office of the organisation located at New Kenches between 7am to 11 am. The last date for submission of forms is July 31.
Plea to CPWD
The residents of the GPA quarters, Lumpyngngad- Motinagar have expressed concern over lack of proper maintenance of the ‘dustbin’ by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) located at Lumpyngngad. The residents maintain there is only one dustbin in the area and “this dustbin which covers large areas was filled with garbage frequently. They urged the CPWD to take steps to maintain it.
Accident
Two persons were injured when a truck on its way to Jowai from Guwahati fell into a gorge Sunday afternoon. The two injured — Eklar Nongspung (24) and Strong Nongspung (22) — were later shifted to the Shillong Civil Hospital for treatment.
