SHILLONG: The stand alone event of the multimedia campaign, undertaken by the Meghalaya AIDS Control Society (MACS) and supported by the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), Rock the Ribbon Superstar – Meghalaya Icon – Unplugged Competition, will be held at Malki football ground her from 1 pm on Friday.
The event is one of the strategies to further strengthen awareness campaign on HIV & AIDS, in particular the youth, using music as a platform.
In a statement issued here, the MACS informed that the multimedia campaign is a special package, specific to only the 8 Northeastern states, which is supported by NACO.
Under this campaign, the state AIDS control societies aim to address the issues of HIV & AIDS through local entertainment avenues like sports, local festivals and music targeting the youth.
Participants have to visit ICTCs and CSC (run by the MSNP+) as per the rules.
The winner will have to sign an MOU with MACS, wherein it will be clearly stated that the office will use the face and the services of the winner in all its IEC campaign for a period of 1 year or till the next winner is crowned.
The bands will compete for cash prize worth Rs 1.75 lakhs besides the opportunity to contest the North East Multi Media Campaign in music against HIV AIDS in Imphala and Manipur as well as to perform at all the events and festivals that the MACS sponsors throughout the year.
