Call to observe two-minute silence on January 30

Shillong: In memory of those who gave up their lives in the struggle for India’s  freedom, a two-minute silence will be observed on January 30 at 11 am throughout the state.
A signal will be sounded at 11 am in which all should stand up and traffic on the road should come to a standstill and observe the silence. For these two minutes, all workshops and factories should stop work and All India Radio should stop broadcasting. The commencement and termination of the two minutes silence will be indicated by the sound of army guns and sirens. Sirens will be sounded from 10:59 am till 11 am and all clear sirens will again be sounded from 11:02 am till 11:03 am.
