TURA: As the A’chik Youth Welfare Organization (AYWO) has failed to achieve any response from the Meghalaya Government even after a “Sit-in-Demonstration” two days ago and a ‘Hunger Strike’ held on Friday at the MeECL Office, the Organization announced that a mass rally and a signature campaign will be held in protest against the Government for not addressing their demands.

AYWO, President, Adinson Ch Momin said that the Organization is going to organize a Mass Rally and a Signature Campaign throughout Garo Hills from next week, since their staging of a Dharna and a Hunger Strike has not stirred the Government to act in response to their demands.

The AYWO, earlier this month had given a seven days ultimatum to the Power Minister through the Addl. Chief Executive Engineer, MeECL Tura to give an assurance to do the needful to ensure smooth power supply in Garo Hills region, failing which the Organization said they would start a series of democratic agitational programmes to air the gravity of their grievances and resentment. Despite the agitational programme held on Friday, the Organization has still not succeeded in obtaining any reply from the Government. However, still standing strong on the grounds of their demands, the AYWO said “We will further stage more agitational demonstrations until the Government fulfils our demands”.
