SHILLONG: The ongoing upgradation and renovation work of the only standard-size cricket ground in Shillong, Polo Cricket Ground, is likely to be completed in April-May this year.
Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) Honorary Secretary Naba Bhattacharjee informed that they are installing sand-based ground, new pitches and grasses, and for that seeds are being imported from England.
The venue will also have underground draining system and computerised watering pumps, he added.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which is directly implementing the project, is also constructing a dressing room.
The indoor facility project, which is also supposed to come up in the ground, will be completed at a later stage once the renovation of the ground is finished.
In the second phase of the development work, there has been a plan for construction of gallery for spectators at the MCA ground, Shillong and the efforts are being made to find a suitable position for the set up.
