Two arrested for corruption

GUWAHATI: Assam Police on Monday arrarrested a junior engineer and a former Zila Parishad member for misappropriation of government fund

on the basis of complaint filed by Md. Moslem Uddin Ahmed, president Human Rights Counsel of India .

During the course of enquiry it was found that Bhupati Barman, the then Junior Engineer of Dhubri Zilla Parishad prepared an estimate for “Construction of Boundary Wall of kukiladanga Burial Ground under Hatidhura Z.P.C. under 13th Finance Commission for the year 2013-14, phase- II” for Rs 800000.

Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad, Dhubri sanctioned total amount of Rs. 700000 for implementation of the scheme. But, J.E. Bhupati Barman in connivance with Md Khairul Alom Mia, the then Member of ZPC, Dhubri Zilla Parishad neither execute the plan nor constructed any boundary wall in Kukiladanga Burial Ground and they submitted fake bills and utilisation certificate purportedly showing execution of works and misappropriated government fund to the tune of Rs. 700000.

Accordingly , a case was registered at CM SVC vide Vigilance PS Case No. 01/2020 and both the accused persons were arrested on Monday and forwarded to the court.
