SHILLONG: The Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO) will resume its agitation against the delay in implementation of Inner Liner Permit (ILP) and to oppose Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) with a five-day sit in demonstration in the city from Tuesday.
The evening sit-in demonstration from 2 pm to 5 pm will be held till February 8 on the premises of the State Central Library.
The CoMSO decided to resume agitation after a meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma in New Delhi last week failed to make any headway in the ILP issue.
The meeting between Shah and Sangma threw up nothing definite with regard to implementation of ILP except the former’s assurance of engaging in a discussion with a state delegation after the Delhi Assembly elections slated for February 8.
CoMSO chairman Robertjune Kharjarin said that they would continue their agitations if the Centre does not agree to implement ILP in the state.
The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly last December had passed a resolution seeking ILP and CoMSO wants all the 60 MLAs of the House to protest in Delhi against the delay in implementing the system.
