NEW DELHI: With only few days left for crucial Delhi Assembly polls this Saturday, main challenger BJP has arrayed most of its Union ministers, chief ministers and cabinet ministers from the North East including AL Hek with the hope that they can make a dent in the vast voters from the region and its neighbouring states.
Hek, who reached Delhi on Tuesday morning, held several meetings which were attended by North-East students. He also held informal meetings with many groups.
BJP has put their best foot forward and held a public meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where most of its leaders from the North East were present.
Besides the Union Ministers – Kirn Rijju and Rameswar Teli, chief ministers of Northeastern states including Assam, Tripura and Manipur — along with MPs and top leaders of the BJP are campaigning for the saffron party.
There are thousands of voters from the North East in Delhi and many students. The election for the 70-member Delhi Assembly is scheduled to be held on February 8 while the counting of votes will take place on February 11.
