MAWKYRWAT: The KSU Balat Border Area Circle met the executive engineer (EE) of PWD (Roads), Mawsynram Division to deliberate on the slow progress of the construction of Tlongpleng-Balat road.
“Our intention was to meet the EE and seek clarification as to why the department was too slow in completing the road, but to our surprise, we were told by the EE that till date the government has not sanctioned funds for the road,” Bonsen Snaitang, president of KSU Balat Border Area Circle said.
Snaitang said that the union cannot remain silent on such step-motherly treatment by the state government against the people of the area.
“Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynshong who is in-charge of the PWD should give clarity on the issue as to why the government has treated Balat area so unfairly. The minister should also clarify the stance of the state government regarding the road, which is the backbone of the people of Tlongpleng, Balat and Ranikor,” Snaitang said.
Snaitang also said that the union will discuss about the issues and at the same time urged upon the public representatives to take it up with the government.
