Bangalore: Hoping to make an international comeback at the Twenty20 World Cup in September, Yuvraj Singh today batted for the first time after undergoing treatment for a rare germ cell cancer earlier this year.

Yuvraj is in his second week of rehabilitation programme at the National Cricket Academy here.

“I am right now in the second week of rehabilitation and I am feeling good. My body will slowly become stronger, I am sure,” he said while talking to reporters.

Yuvraj again thanked one and all for the support he received during treatment.

“Great response… it is overwhelming… the wishes of the whole country. I want to come back and play for the country,” he said here.

Having already returned to light training, Yuvraj had also said that that his recovery was going well, and is enjoying a healthier lifestyle. (PTI)
