Plastic festival in Mutong village on Feb 21 and 22

JOWAI: The first-of-its-kind Plastic Festival 2020 will be organised by the Mutong Tourism Promotion and Environment Society in collaboration with the office of the East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner and the district Swatch Bharat Mission on February 21 and 22 on the theme ‘Say No to Plastic”.
On the first day of the festival, trekking-cum-plastic collection event will be organised from Lumshyrmit village to Cham Cham and to Mutong followed by a DJ Night event in the evening.
On the second day, there will be a plastic bottle competition from 11 am, in which the person who collects the most number of plastic bottles will be declared winner.
The first prize for the competition is Rs 15,000, second prize is Rs 7,000 and the third prize is Rs 4,000 besides four consolation prizes worth Rs 1,000 each.
Local food stalls will also be set up during the festival at Nongsyntoin Memorial Secondary School presenting rice beer and plastic arts exhibition. There will be one more DJ Night event by Atonicx Shillong and Banker Kharkongor.
