Indo-Bangla conference to strengthen bilateral ties

SHILLONG: Indo-Bangla conference will be held in the city to strengthen bilateral ties and also to mark 50 years of relationship.
With India and Bangladesh celebrating 50 years of their formal relationship, the National Conference will discuss the nations’ relations, regionalism and connectivity.
The North East supported by the Policy Planning and Research Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India will be held at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong on Friday and Saturday.
It is learnt that the conference is important from the diplomatic, political, economic and social perspective. Addressing the media on Thursday Prof. RK Satapathy, Honorary Director, Indian Council of Social Science Research- ICSSR-NERC said that there will be discussions on border hats, illegal migrants as well.
The conference has invited stakeholders to discuss on Citizenship (Amendment) Act, illegal immigrants and problems faced by people of the two countries. The conference is being organised by the Jadavpur Association of International relations (JAIR) and Indian Council of Social Science Research –North Eastern Regional Centre (ICSSR-NERC), Shillong where the chief guest will be Governor Tathagatha Roy.
