NE tea body gains foothold in north bank of Brahmaputra

GUWAHATI: North Eastern Tea Association (NETA), an association of tea producers headquartered in Upper Assam, has now gained a foothold in the north bank of Brahmaputra in the state with 14 bought leaf tea factories of Biswanath Chariali becoming members of the association. The development was preceded by a meeting held between NETA and Biswanath District Bought Leaf Tea Producer Association in Biswanath Chariali on Sunday, a statement issued by the association, said. The 14 bought leaf tea factories which have taken membership of NETA include Samiran  Tea Industries, Saikia Tea Industries, Biswanath Tea Industries, Behali Tea Company, Kamarpukhuri Tea Industries, Begoti Tea Producer Company, Patkai Tea Industries, Kaziranga Tea Industries, Green Heritage Tea Factory, Barpam Tea Industries, Helambari Tea & Beverages, Nameri Tea, etc.
These bought leaf factories together produce about 14 million kilograms of tea annually. With this development, the Golaghat headquartered NETA’s membership has risen to 160 with a total production of 85 million kilograms.
