City varsity holds orientation programme for NSS volunteers

Shillong: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell of William Carey University, Shillong on Friday organised an orientation programme for the NSS volunteers in the University Conference Hall at Umkdait, Nongmynsong with a participation of 200 NSS volunteers and faculties of the university.
Speaking on this occasion as chief guest, Registrar of William Carey University, Soma Bhowmick, made an ardent appeal to the NSS volunteers to dedicate their services for the good of the society.
Bhowmick said the NSS volunteers should give back to the society what they have received. She said the time, energy and services should be geared up for improving the quality of life of the poor, the downtrodden and the less fortunate.
She urged the volunteers to enthusiastically take part in various NSS activities, as these would help in personality building and to be more articulate while having conversations with others.
The programme was oriented by the NSS programme officers of William Carey University, viz. Marbudiaki Wankhar, Weenalizia Lyngdoh Mawphlang, Idahunheimonmitre Thubru and George Kerry Sunn.
The NSS programme officers also presented a slideshow before the faculties and NSS volunteers during the programme.
During the programme, the NSS volunteers shared their experiences about their involvement in various NSS activities.
A video presentation on the programmes and activities carried out by the NSS in the state and the across the North East was also made during the programme.
