Tension after group clash in Shylla LAC

SHILLONG: A clash between the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) members and suspected Bangladeshi immigrants took place at Ichamati under Shylla constituency, East Khasi Hills in Meghalaya where one individual was reportedly killed on Friday.

 Following the incident the State government held an emergency meeting with Home Minister, DGP and the DCs concerned.

 Talking to newsmen, the Home Minister, Lakhmen Rymbui said that in view of simmering tension internet services will be banned and curfew imposed in Shillong, Shella and Sohra from Friday night.

 Confirming that a person lost his live in the clash, the Home Minister said that the government was taking all measures to contain escalation of violence and restore law and order.
