SHILLONG: Opposition Chief Whip and Congress legislator PT Sawkmie has asked the government to bring back the ordinance on Residents Act to the Assembly so that a bill in this regard can be passed in the House.
The governor has already sent back the ordinance stating that it is in conflict with the central laws.
The legislator wanted to know which part of the ordinance is in conflict with the central laws.
Sawkmie said the stand of the governor that there will be repercussions if the Residents Act is passed is not acceptable.
Sawkmie also dismissed the governor’s remark that tourism will be affected if ILP is introduced in the state, and added that there will be no effect.
