Tura markets disinfected

TURA: On Sunday morning, sanitisation teams from the district moved into different parts of Tura market to spray disinfectants at public places, particularly bus and taxi stands, parking lots, sidewalks and areas where people tend to gather. This is probably the first time in recent history that disinfectants have been used to sanitize public places in the town to check against infection.
Traders concerned over depleting food stock
Traders in Tura town informed that there has been a substantial drop in the food stock of rice, wheat and cooking oil in the market region due to panic buying in the last three days.
“We are facing shortage of the three most sought after food items in the town, such as parimal rice, aashirwad atta and anupam mustard oil. The stock has arrived by train in Guwahati and we hope to be able to load the consignment bring it in by Monday evening,” said a wholesale dealer from the Tura market.
However, Commissioner and Secretary P Samapth Kumar clarified that there will no restrictions on the movement of essential commodities and government is giving all support and assistance to ensure food items, medicines and other requirements are brought in without any hassle.
