SHILLONG: The Shillong Marwari community has provided 40 number of 300-litre water tanks for the people to wash hands at a time when the state is making all-out efforts to prevent the possible outbreak of the deadly COVID-19 in the state. The tanks are fitted with wash basins, taps and liquid soap dispensers, which are being placed and maintained by the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) across the city.
The community, while lauding the state administration’s initiative of calling for a total shutdown on March 22, said it has pledged to close all business activities except essential items for 15 days or as required by the authorities.
It has donated a total of 40 blankets on Tuesday for the SMB workers. Moreover, the community also distributed 600 face masks, 3,000 pieces of latex hand gloves, 19 steel sinks and a total of 300 sanitisers for the police personnel, who are at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19.
