TURA: It was meant to be the first line of defence against infection from novel coronavirus (COVID-19) by going through a complete lockdown and isolation at one’s own home, but some sections of society in the region appeared to have thrown caution to the winds violating all government norms of a shutdown on Tuesday with sporadic cases being reported.
The state government’s two-day was supposed to have been the main ingredient to ward off any possible sign of infection, but the callousness of some sections of society has squandered the preventive measures put in place.
Despite a shutdown, groups of people were found visiting markets and mingling amongst crowds during the hours of the lockdown on Tuesday afternoon, primarily in the plain-belt region. Angry and worried citizens relayed stories about the violation of the government orders, in which, people came out of their homes to visit markets even though the lockdown was still in process in some parts of Selsella and Rajabala.
Reports about people heading to riverside for outing and fishing came up in the Ganol river region also.
