NONGSTOIN: West Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police BJ Laloo has urged the headmen and locals to report to the police about the persons who have skipped the screening tests at the checkpoints when entering the state.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Laloo said the that police are trying hard to track those people in the district who study or work outside the state and who had skipped all the testing checkpoints when entering state, adding that without the cooperation of the headmen and locals, it is difficult to prevent any novel coronavirus outbreak.
“Those, who are returning to the district and those who have skipped those checkpoints, should inform by calling Police Control Room No. 9366498499/6909642019,” Laloo said. He added that anyone failing to comply will be booked under Section 269, 270 and 271 of IPC, which includes a six month to two years of jail along with fine.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate T Lyngwa said that section-144 has been promulgated in district from Tuesday until further orders.
