Condolence

The principal and staff of St Edmund’s College has condoled the demise of Dr Purnendu Bhattarcharya, the former head of the Physics department of this college. Dr Bhattarcharya passed away on Tuesday at Kolkata. In a condolence meeting, they recalled the contributions of Dr Bhattarcharya to the college. With his passing away the entire staff of the physics department and the college as a whole has lost a guide and a person who loved the college, they felt.

Photographic day

The Photographic society of Assam will commemorate the World photographic day on August 19 and will organize an exhibition at prominent place like the State Central Library, All Saints Hall besides others.

Birth anniv

The Tibetan community in Shillong will celebrate the 77th birthday of the Dalai Lama at Gaden Choeling Buddhist Monastery, Upper Lumparing on July 6. Simultaneously, the ‘flame of truth’ torch relay and signature campaign initiated by the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile to seek the united nation’s intervention regarding the worsening human rights situation inside Tibet will begin on the same day.

Meeting

A general meeting of past pupils of Mawkhar Christian HS School will be held on Saturday at 2pm at the school premises.

Golden jubilee

The Madan Sports and Cultural Club will bring down the curtains on its Golden Jubilee celebration on July 7 at a function to be held at the Madan Sports and Cultural Club playground, Mdan Laban at 3pm. Union Minister Vincent H Pala will be present as the chief guest on the day.
