TURA: In the light of reports coming in about some people violating their self-quarantine despite the health advisory, the West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner has appealed to all those who returned to the district and to Tura recently to remain indoors and maintain self- quarantine for 14 days as mandated by protocol for spread against COVID-19.
The DC has appealed to all to maintain protocol and warned the violators of taking them forcibly to the self quarantine facility set up by the government.
Authorities have been taking the help of local area committees and elders to keep a check on arrivals from outside the state into the region. However, there were also sporadic cases in which those taking up self quarantine were not contacted by the surveillance teams to check on their well-being.
A parent in Tura revealed that his child who is studying in another state and returned last week had taken up self-quarantine after giving his details to authorities as part of necessary guidelines. However, they were not contacted by anyone from the surveillance unit for five days.
