New Delhi: An organisation working for disabled persons today took objections to Opposition-backed Presidential candidate P A Sangma’s comments that “India should have a President, who is not blind, dumb and deaf.”

“It reflects very poorly on a candidate who is aspiring to the topmost office of the country,” the National Platform for the Rights of the Disabled said in a statement.

Sangma had told reporters in Ahmedabad on Friday that “India should have a President, who is not blind, dumb and deaf. India should have a thinking and a functional President.”

The organisation also sought an apology from Sangma for his “insulting” remarks. (PTI)
