BSF provides relief to border villagers hit by lockdown
GUWAHATI: Amid nationwide lockdown in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the BSF distributed ration and food to the border villagers, who are struggling to get single meal a day. It may be mentioned that the border population has been worst-affected due to COVID-19 lockdown. The BSF battalions of Guwahati Frontier distributed free ration to needy of border village West Chamta in Coochbehar. During distribution of ration, all the security personnel followed the COVID-19 guidelines of precautions which include social distancing norms and use of face masks. BSF personnel also briefed the villagers about preventive measures to be taken to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Sanitisation, awareness programme
Guwahati: Three sub-teams of 1st Bn NDRF carried out area sanitisation and general awareness in various locations of Assam, viz. Mirza, Changsari, market and DC Office Amingaon, Guwahati. The teams exhorted the locals to follow government guidelines on COVID-19, precautions and to support lockdown against the pandemic.

No case in Sikkim so far: Official
Gangtok: Sikkim has not reported any COVID-19 case so far, a senior health official said on Friday. The authorities have collected samples of 35 people, but their reports have come out negative, Director General (Health Services) PT Bhutia said. “There has been no case of COVID-19 in Sikkim till date,” he said. However, eight patients with coronavirus-like symptoms are admitted in various hospitals, Bhutia said. A total of 1,122 persons have been placed under home quarantine, while another 107 are being quarantined at government facilities in Sikkim. (PTI)
