New Delhi: Alleging threat from unknown persons, RSS leader Sanjay Joshi, who recently quit the BJP’s primary membership, has demanded more security cover from Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
Mr Joshi, in a letter to Mr Chidambaram, said he had earlier complained alleging that he was being threatened by unknown persons through mobile phones as well as through written letters.
“Though the persons who were responsible for making the threats were not tracked down but security was provided to me,” Mr Joshi said in his letter dated June 14.
The letter was revealed by Mr Joshi to the media on Monday.
Mr Joshi had resigned from the BJP national executive last month due to “pressure” from Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
There have also been incidents in recent weeks of anti-Modi posters that also praised Mr Joshi at different locations in Gujarat and other places.
Mr Joshi, the former BJP’s organisation secretary, alleged in his letter that he received fresh threatening calls on his mobile phone on June 3 and 4 from three different numbers.
“Sir, now again some people have been making fresh threatening call to me on my mobile phone. I have also received one hand written letter from one person namely Rasool Khan wherein I have been warned that I should get ready for my death,” he claimed.
The RSS leader said he was provided one security personnel within the jurisdiction of Delhi.
He demanded that his security cover be increased not only in Delhi but also outside Delhi as he travells different parts of the country due to nature of his work.
“I want that these persons should be tracked down and suitable action be taken against them as well as the persons behind their activity,” Mr Joshi added in the letter.
The letter’s copy was also sent to Minister of State for Home Affairs Jitendra Singh, Delhi Police Commissioner and Spl Police Commissioner, Special Cell. (UNI)
