SHILLONG: The executive committee of the Dorbar Swer Pyllun has urged the government to look into the welfare of more than 150 poor families in Swer village, East Khasi Hills to ensure that they get the BPL rice.
It may be mentioned that some families in the village were delisted from the BPL category in 2011 census.
On the other hand, the executive committee has said that two women, Mina Diengdoh and Rikynti Nongrum, are poor but have been delisted from the BPL census and are struggling to make ends meet. T committee said that the village heads have been making effort to help them in every possible way.The committee informed that the Ramkrishna Mission has donated essential items — 25 kg rice each to poor families — on April 5 which was a boon to them.
The Shnong said that the village has bought another 300 quintals of rice from the village fund to be distributed to those families who do not have ration cards. The Shnong added that MLA Gavin Mylliem, has also distributed 300 quintals of rice which was then distributed to poor families on April 10.
