SHILLONG: The Khasi Students’ Union (Farmers and Consumers Protection Cell) on Friday said that concerned authorities should direct shopkeepers to maintain a price list of all essential commodities.
In a statement issued here, the chairman of KSU Farmers and Consumers Protection Cell, Spaindorsing Lyngkhoi said that the price list should be monitored to ensure that all essential commodities are not over priced.
The union has warned retailers, shopkeepers against any hike in price of commodities at a time when the people are facing financial constraints.
While urging the central and state government to discuss the issues of the farmers who have taken agricultural loans, the union also urged the sellers not to suppress the farmers.
The union said that the current crisis in the country has prevented the farmers from sowing their seeds.
