SHILLONG: The BSF deployed in Lyngkhat, East Khasi Hills apprehended a Bangladeshi national identified as Abdul Rahim, a resident of Sylhet, while he was trying to infiltrate into India.

The BSF sleuths recovered fake Indian currency notes (FICN) worth Rs 50,000 apart from 5,000 Taka (Bangladeshi currency) and one mobile phone from the infiltrator.

The seized fake Indian currency notes were meant for circulation in the Indian market and the spot where the Bangladeshi national was apprehended was unfenced. “Bangladeshi nationals have always tried to tsneak in through the unfenced patches in the EKH and the Jaintia Hills districts,” the BSF said.
